Here’s some new game ideas to start your week off creatively!

How about…?

Anxiety cards

Similar to Emotions, but with practical advice for people suffering from anxiety etc on a range of cards.

Tropes

Mix and match about matching different tropes to beat a problem/make a film etc. Eg shy girl + hair over one eye matches… But is it good in a horror film?

Village life exploration game but in Rome

Three Roman families explore across Italy to build coliseums, farms etc in an exploration/economy/senate game.

Who goes in the pot?

Game type: card game, 1-4 players, any age

Length: 5 mins / round

Idea:

Card game where players have to appease a band of Orcs who intend to cook one of them. Players start with a selection of  foods which they need to use to persuade the orcs to eat instead of them.

Play continues until players have no cards left. The player with the lowest points during the match loses and goes in the pot!

Detention disaster!

Game type: card game, 2-6 players

Length: 15 mins

Idea:

Quick detention escaping game – one player is the teacher who has to look after a number of students trying to escape detention.

The student must work together to play cards that put the teacher to sleep or make them run away by doing pranks on them, with cards making pranks that can be linked together, such as making the teacher fall over onto a chair with a pin on it etc

Defend the Castle!

Game type: board game

Length: 30-60 mins

Idea:

Players are knights who defend a medieval castle from outside attack. Players have to use tiles to build their castle and place defenders in strategic positions. As a cooperative game, players must work together to defend the castle.

The enemy pieces could also be player controlled, or played by bee-lining towards the castle each turn. Attacking forces could have d6’s on their cards to represent a simple number of troops left or hit points of the unit.

Neko fighting team

Game type: card game

Length: 30-60 mins

Idea:

Players are part of a fighting team who have to defeat monsters and villains across the city. Each player will have different tactics but must work together to complete missions of increasing difficulty.

Practically players draw cards from the tactics or situation deck, helping them fight or improve their situation. Situation cards also create new monsters or villains to fight so players need to be ready to face their enemies.

Garden show

Game type: board game

Length: 60 mins

Idea:

Players place pieces together on a board to fill out a garden/auto/etc show/mall/etc

Pieces could include different shops or parts of the show, with similar ones creating extra points. 

Player with the most points at the end wins!

Monster City

Game type: board game

Length: 60 mins

Idea:

Players control different factions on a game board to take over a city, with different effects for different zones. Could fit mutiple themes, mediaeval, fantasy, cyberpunk etc.

Players control one of multiple factions that are either large (dragons) or few in number (kobolds). Each also have a different win condition – eg kobolds want territory whereas dragons need to horde a certain amount of money.

Faction ideas

Dragons: 2 very powerful units, wants to horde wealth

Kobolds: many very weak units, want territory

Rebel uprising: Few strong units, gain more units with territort. Want to control central tower to remove current government

Security forces: Many average units, better at defense, win it all others are defeated.

Buildings/territories ideas

Central tower: Place of government, good defence and income

Heliport/balloon/harbour etc: can move pieces from this territory to any other owned instantly.
